Logistics company’s expansion in Cobb brings 500 new jobs

Vanderlande Industries Inc., a global material handling and logistics company, will invest $59 million in expanding their North American headquarters here in Cobb County. Having called Cobb County its North American home for more than 23 years, this expansion will create 500 new jobs in Marietta, bringing the company’s total employment in Georgia to more than 1,250 people.

The announcement came this week from Gov. Brian Kemp who said in a press release, “Georgia’s world-class logistics network continues to set businesses up for success. Vanderlande’s commitment to creating hundreds of jobs for hardworking Georgians also speaks to the high-quality workforce pipeline in our state. I look forward to seeing Vanderlande continue to prosper and create jobs in the number one state for business.”

“Supply chain and logistics is a growing industry in Cobb County, and Vanderlande’s expansion in Marietta is a great example of how our county is attracting high-quality jobs and investment in this sector,” said Sharon Mason, president and CEO of the Cobb Chamber.

An international company, Vanderlande is headquartered in Veghel, Netherlands and is viewed as a global market leader for value-added logistics automation within the airport, parcel and warehouse markets. More than 45 million parcels are sorted by the company’s systems, which are active in 600 airports, including 14 of the world’s top 20.

This expansion will help the company better serve its customers by investing in and growing a skilled and dedicated local team, according to the news release. Per Nick Porter, president of Vanderlande’s North American airports and parcel solutions team, “Vanderlande continues to enjoy our relationship with the local community, educational institutions, and service providers. Our new campus supports our ability to expand our local teams to meet the growth in our business, and to support our North American customers with the innovative, efficient, and effective solutions they need.”

Vanderlande continues to actively hire for positions in engineering, operations, supply chain, software development, and sales. A newly constructed 152,612-square-foot facility, located at 3054 Chastain Meadows Parkway Northwest in Marietta, will support their expanding workforce.
