Florida Woman Charged for Pointing Gun at Mother, Child During Cobb County Road Rage Incident

Share

A Florida woman has been indicted on multiple charges after allegedly pointing a loaded gun at a mother and her child during a road rage incident along I-285 in Cobb County.

Jennifer Ann Bernard, 33, of Panama City, is accused of the July 8 incident, which occurred around 4:57 p.m. near the intersection with Cobb Parkway. According to her arrest warrant, Bernard was involved in a minor collision with the victim’s vehicle before allegedly exiting her car and brandishing a Kel Tec .380 handgun.

The warrant states that Bernard approached the victim’s car, verbally berating the woman while pointing the gun at both her and her child. Bernard reportedly opened the victim’s car door and used her wheelchair to block the door from closing, locking it in place to prevent the victim from moving her or escaping. At one point, she placed the firearm in her lap while continuing to obstruct the victim, according to police.

Police say the incident was captured on video, which reportedly shows Bernard standing in the victim’s door while holding the gun and issuing threats. The victim told officers she feared for her life, and her child was reportedly crying during the encounter.

Bernard was taken into custody shortly after the incident and is currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Jail. A Cobb grand jury has indicted her on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, terroristic threats, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Authorities continue to emphasize the dangers of road rage incidents and the severe legal consequences that can result from threatening others with a weapon.
