A man was shot and killed Wednesday night at an apartment complex in West Cobb – not far from Osborne High School.
Officers were dispatched to The Pines at West Cobb at about 7:30 p.m. after a 911 caller reported the shooting.
Dacari Early, 23, was found shot multiple times and lying outside an apartment door. According to police, Early died at the scene.
Investigators remained at the complex for several hours collecting evidence, interviewing multiple witnesses and acquiring surveillance footage of the area.
Based on their investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Joshua Nash, 22, of Cincinnati, Ohio. Once Nash was identified as the suspect, police put out a bolo and warned that he was considered “armed and dangerous.”
Cobb officials said Nash faced charges of murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Nash was arrested and taken into custody the following day in Rome, said Cobb police.
He was booked into the Floyd County Jail and is awaiting transfer back to Cobb, but new charges he faces in Floyd County may delay that transfer.
While in Floyd County, Nash was booked on charges of credit card theft, making false statements to police, and two counts of giving false identification.
Authorities did not say what may have led up to the shooting or if Nash and the victim knew each other.
