DSW and Publix Closing in Atlantic Station, Residents Respond

Share

ATLANTA, GA — Two longtime retailers at Atlantic Station are closing their doors, impacting residents who rely on their convenience. DSW will close on January 24, 2026, while Publix will permanently close on December 27, 2025.

Both stores have been anchor tenants, serving shoppers and neighborhood residents alike. The DSW closure comes at the end of its lease, with Atlantic Station management planning to bring in a new tenant that fits the development’s evolving retail vision. Publix’s smaller store size and the challenging parking layout — located in a deck beneath the store — contributed to its closure.

Residents expressed mixed reactions to the news. Atlantic Station resident Emily R., Atlantic Station said, “It’s disappointing. I could walk to Publix for groceries, now I’ll have to drive.” Nearby apartment owner Carlos M. said, “DSW was my go-to for shoes. Hopefully, something new comes in that’s just as convenient.”

Atlantic Station management says they are actively exploring replacement tenants and reimagining the vacated spaces to meet current retail demands. Meanwhile, the development continues to grow, with recent openings like MINISO, Art Station ATL, and the expanded Atlanta Falcons & Atlanta United Team Store.

For now, residents will feel the immediate loss of walkable grocery and retail options, but future tenants could reshape Atlantic Station’s retail landscape, offering new experiences for the community.
