Driver arrested after striking boy riding go-kart in Smyrna

Share

A go-kart, received as a birthday gift by a 5-year-old boy turned into a birthday nightmare when the child was struck by a hit-and-run driver at his Smyrna apartment complex around 11:30 a.m. on March 26.

The child suffered a broken leg in the crash, which occurred at the Cumberland Pointe apartments on Wexford Walk Drive.

Police confirmed the boy was being supervised by an adult when the hit-and-run occurred. Smyrna police said a woman driving a 2014 Kia Optima allegedly plowed into him in the parking lot and left the complex.

According to an arrest warrant, Victoria Ellean Conner was arrested and booked into the Cobb County jail on Monday.

Conner was released after posting bond. Ironically, Conner lives less than a quarter-mile from the crash scene, on Wexford Walk Drive.

Conner faces two felony charges of serious injury by vehicle and hit-and-run resulting in serious injury or death.
