COMMUNITY MOURNS AFTER PEBBLEBROOK SENIOR FATALLY STABBED

Share

The Pebblebrook High School community is reeling after the tragic death of 17-year-old senior David Daniel, who was fatally stabbed Saturday. A 16-year-old classmate has been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.

The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a video game between two friends who also played basketball together. Daniel was found at a home on Milam Creek Road with a stab wound to his torso and later died at a nearby hospital.

In a letter to families, Pebblebrook High School officials said, “While the incident occurred away from school, the loss is felt profoundly across the school community. School counselors will be available to support those students and staff who need help processing this tragic news.”

Parents, neighbors, and classmates expressed shock and heartbreak. “Every day when I get a phone call or something from Pebblebrook, my heart just drops,” said Ruth Lancaster, whose grandson attends the school. Crystal Smith, whose niece is a student there, added, “This is mind blowing just to hear about that. It’s happening too close.”

This tragedy comes on the heels of another serious incident at Pebblebrook last week, when two students were charged following a fight in a school restroom involving a BB gun that prompted a campus lockdown.

As the community mourns, police have urged anyone with information about Daniel’s death to contact the Cobb County Police Department Major Crimes Unit at 770-499-3945.

For students and families struggling to process the loss, the school has emphasized the importance of counseling and support resources, hoping to provide some comfort during this difficult time.
