Chrysler recalls more than 338,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles for crash risk

Share

Chrysler has issued a recall for more than 300,000 Jeep vehicles due to concerns about potential loss of vehicle control, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recall, submitted by Chrysler on February 22, pertains to specific models: 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L and 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured between December 2020 and May 2023.

Chrysler has identified a risk of steering knuckle separation in the affected vehicles, which could lead to a loss of control. The separation may occur between the upper control arm ball joint and the steering knuckle, causing the wheel to fall outward, compromising the driver’s ability to maintain control.

Approximately 338,238 Jeeps are part of this recall. The affected range includes 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles produced from December 3, 2020, to May 30, 2023, and 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokees manufactured from December 19, 2021, to May 30, 2023.

Chrysler is offering free repairs at its dealerships, involving the replacement of the upper control arm pinch bolts. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed on April 12, 2024. Owners of the affected vehicles can also reach out to FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403, using recall number 10B for reference. It is recommended that owners act promptly to address the issue and ensure the safety of their vehicles.
