Big Changes Coming to Parking at Hartsfield-Jackson

Airport to Triple Some Rates Starting May 1

Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is raising its parking rates for the first time since 2017 — and in some cases, prices will more than triple.

Starting May 1, the airport will implement steep price increases across its lots and decks as it moves forward with a major parking overhaul. The changes are part of a larger modernization plan and a strategy to fund new parking structures.

What’s Changing?

  • Hourly Parking: From $3 to $10/hour
  • International Hourly Lot: Up to $100/day
  • Domestic Terminal Decks: $19 → $24/day
  • ATL West Deck: $16 → $30/day
  • Economy Parking: $14 → $20/day
  • Domestic Park-Ride (Uncovered): $10 → $15/day
  • International Park-Ride Deck: $14 → $30/day

“We believe these price increases are necessary,” said airport assistant general manager Tyronia Smith. “Inflation and the need to fund construction make this a critical step.”

The airport is currently building a $530 million South parking deck with 7,700 new spaces, aiming to handle up to 125 million passengers a year by 2030.

Despite the hike, Smith says ATL will remain one of the most affordable major airports in the

Some customers worry the higher costs could steer people toward Uber, Lyft, or MARTA instead.

Airport officials expect the changes to drive a 25–30% increase in parking revenue, despite short-term losses during construction.

With limited space and high demand, ATL encourages travelers to plan ahead, explore public transit options, or consider off-site parking alternatives.

“We expect some shift in consumer behavior,” said Hughie Galbreath, senior director of parking and ground transportation. “But the improvements we’re making — more capacity, new services, and updated technology — are intended to better serve passengers in the long run.”
