ATLANTA , GA — Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens announced the appointment of Marquetta J. Bryan as the next City Attorney for Atlanta, marking a leadership transition as the mayor prepares to begin his next term in office. The announcement comes as current City Attorney Patrise Perkins-Hooker prepares to depart City Hall.

Bryan brings more than 20 years of legal experience spanning both public and private practice. Most recently, she served as a litigation partner at Pierson Ferdinand LLP and also works as a mediator and arbitrator with Henning Mediation & Arbitration Services. Over the course of her career, she has represented municipalities, public agencies, school districts, and nonprofit organizations.

“Marquetta Bryan is a respected attorney with a reputation for sound judgment, strategic thinking and integrity,”
Mayor Dickens said in a statement. “Her depth of experience, coupled with her heart for public service, makes her the right choice to serve Atlanta in this critical role.”

An Atlanta native and graduate of Emory University, Bryan earned her Juris Doctor degree cum laude in 2002 from Cleveland Marshall College of Law. Bryan is admitted to practice law in Georgia and New York, as well as before the Supreme Court of the United States. Her professional accomplishments include receiving the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta’s “Lawyer of the Year” Award and the Justice Robert Benham Award for Community Service.

In accepting the appointment, Bryan emphasized her commitment to public service and the future of the city. “As a native of Atlanta, I am deeply humbled and honored to be entrusted with advancing justice, fairness and transparency in this role in the City that shaped the soul of who I am,” Bryan said. “I am committed to upholding a culture of integrity and accountability, strengthening an already exceptional team, and expanding meaningful opportunities to train and elevate the next generation of attorneys.”

Mayor Dickens also praised outgoing City Attorney Patrise Perkins-Hooker for her leadership and impact. Dickens thanked Perkins-Hooker for her service and wished her success in her next professional chapter as the city prepares for a new era of legal leadership under Bryan.
