And another one…Cobb County Water System reports another sewage overflow
Share
The Cobb County Water System has reported another sewage overflow. This time, an estimated 1,020-gallon wastewater sewer overflow occurred on July 11 at 1930 Blackwell Road in Marietta and discharged into a tributary of Rubes Creek. The Water System was notified of the overflow at 10:05 a.m. on July 11, and the overflow was stopped by 12:55 p.m. the same day.
Water System employees said that upon their arrival they observed a manhole spilling sewage with the lid still secured. The escaping sewage created a 40-foot by 40-foot gray trail that entered the tributary. To alleviate the sewer line, the crew set up a bypass pump and subsequently cleaned the area, spreading lime to mitigate contamination. After cleaning, they walked along the waterway and noted a gray discoloration extending approximately 290 feet downstream. No fish kills were observed during their inspection.
It appears that these sewage overflows are occuring more often across the county with no real explanation from Cobb officials as to the cause.
