A new restaurant in town is serving more than just meals—it is serving memories.
Phyllis’s Southern Comfort, the latest addition to the local dining scene, officially opened its doors in Marietta. Patrons across metro Atlanta are flocking to enjoy a soul-warming journey through the flavors of the Deep South. This is the place to enjoy a wonderful dish from a menu that features their famous catfish and grits or their chicken and waffles. Phyllis’s menu is a celebration of beloved Southern staples, each dish a nod to generations past.

Diners can also expect crispy fried chicken, buttery cornbread, tender collard greens, slow-cooked oxtail, and Phyllis’s signature biscuits, served warm with every meal. The result is a deeply satisfying, soul-soothing experience that transcends a simple dinner. “Every bite should feel like coming home,” Phyllis adds.
What sets the restaurant apart is the balance between authentic tradition and culinary creativity. “These are old recipes, but we’ve refined them,” Phyllis says. “The flavor is rooted in the past, but the presentation and polish are what today’s diners appreciate.”
Phyllis, the heart and namesake of the restaurant, traces her culinary roots to childhood days spent watching her Aunt Sally cook for their large, close-knit family. The aroma of simmering greens, sizzling chicken, and baking biscuits would fill the home—and, more importantly, fill hearts. It was here that Phyllis discovered her lifelong passion: creating food that brings people together.
Growing up in the heart of the South, she began honing her skills, gradually earning a reputation for her take on gourmet Southern cuisine. But one dish rose above the rest—her golden-brown biscuits, flaky and warm, became legendary in her neighborhood. “The smell alone was enough to get folks knocking on the door,” her son Chris recalls.
Now, with over 40 years of culinary mastery behind her, Phyllis, together with Chris, has opened her dream restaurant. Chris describes the venture as “a tribute to Mom and all the women before her who cooked with love, patience, and pride.”
Located on 732 Cherokee Street NE, Building 300 in Marietta, Phyllis’s Southern Comfort is more than just a restaurant—it’s a homage to family, tradition, and the Southern spirit of hospitality.
The ambiance at Phyllis’s mirrors the warmth of her cooking—welcoming, cozy, and filled with the kind of charm only a family legacy can provide.
Phyllis’s addition to the culinary scene is a milestone not only for the family behind it but for the entire community. In a world that’s always rushing, Phyllis offers a pause—and a plate full of comfort.
“My greatest joy is seeing people smile after the first bite,” Phyllis says, beaming. “That’s what food is about—bringing people together, one meal at a time.”
So whether you’re craving crispy fried chicken, creamy mac and cheese, or just one of those famous biscuits that started it all, Phyllis’s Southern Comfort is ready to welcome you home.
