Share

Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) recently announced the appointment of Jamie Allen, JD, LLM, as Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer. A seasoned legal executive with over 25 years of experience, Ms. Allen brings a wealth of expertise in healthcare law and corporate governance. She will also serve as Corporate Secretary and provide legal oversight for Morehouse Healthcare.

“We are honored to welcome Jamie Allen to Morehouse School of Medicine,” said Valerie Montgomery Rice, MD, FACOG, President and CEO of MSM. “Her exceptional legal acumen, deep understanding of healthcare operations, and commitment to service make her an invaluable addition to our leadership team. As Chief Legal Officer, she will play a critical role in guiding our institution through an evolving healthcare and academic landscape, ensuring that we remain aligned with our mission to advance health equity through education, research, and patient care.”

Before joining MSM, Ms. Allen served as Vice President of Legal Services at BJC Health System, the largest nonprofit health system in Missouri. There, she advised on hospital operations, vendor contracts, academic partnerships, medical staff affairs, and philanthropic efforts.

Her tenure at BJC followed its merger with Saint Luke’s Health System, where she was Vice President and General Counsel of Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City—the flagship hospital and primary teaching facility for the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. She led legal strategy for clinical operations, supply chain, and commercial transactions, and oversaw legal matters for the hospital’s affiliated nursing college.

Allen’s decade-long career at General Electric further shaped her expertise. As legal counsel for GE Healthcare’s diagnostic imaging businesses across Europe and the Middle East, she brought a global lens to healthcare law. During this time, she earned a Six Sigma Black Belt certification and was selected for GE’s prestigious Key Talent Program. Earlier in her career, she practiced law as an associate at Husch Blackwell. Allen earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Health Law from Loyola University Chicago. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Grambling State University.

A dedicated community leader, Allen has served on several nonprofit boards and actively participates in community service. She was honored with the Women’s Justice Award by Missouri Lawyers Media and is a graduate of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Centurions Leadership Program.
