Marietta Man arrested after one-year-old shoots himself to death in apartment

A Marietta man, Conrad Carrington Clark, was taken into custody on Wednesday following a tragic incident on Tuesday evening at the Walton Ridge Apartment Homes in Marietta. 

A one-year-old child, Royal Clark, tragically lost his life after accidentally shooting himself. The apartment complex is located near Cobb Parkway and Barrett Parkway.

Clark, 30, faces multiple charges including involuntary manslaughter, reckless conduct, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. 

According to the arrest warrant, Clark is accused of leaving a loaded firearm in an accessible location where a child under the age of two was able to gain access to it. The warrant said that upon arrival at the apartment home, officers located the one-year-old, who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. 
The report went on to say, “Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services and CCPD attempted life-saving measures; however, the juvenile succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at Kennestone Hospital.”
