With Unwavering Respect and Gratitude, We Offer These Words on this Veterans Day

Today, we stand in solemn honor of the men and women who have donned the uniform of our nation — the brave souls who faced the unknown, confronted danger, and safeguarded the freedoms we hold dear. Among those proud soldiers is Captain Melvin Pender, a decorated veteran who served his country with valor during the Vietnam War and brought further honor to the United States as an Olympic Gold Medalist while still in active service. Your courage echoes in every corner of our nation, and your sacrifices are forever etched into the very fabric of our democracy.
We cannot fully measure the weight you have carried—the sleepless nights, the battles fought, the families waiting at home, and the resilience demanded by a life of service. Yet, through it all, you have exemplified unwavering dedication, unshakable resolve, and true patriotism.
On this Veterans Day, we do more than say “thank you.” We recognize that your service is a legacy, your bravery a beacon, and your sacrifice a debt that can never be repaid. We honor all of you—not just today, but every day—through our commitment to ensuring that veterans receive the care, opportunities, and recognition they so rightfully deserve.
To Captain Mel Pender and to all who have served: you are the heartbeat of liberty. You are the guardians of our freedom. You are not alone. You will never be forgotten. And your courage will continue to inspire generations to come.
With deepest respect,
