Action Alert – Fund SNAP Benefits for November – Write to Your Congressman Now

Share

Urge members of Congress to authorize the use of SNAP contingency funds to continue benefits through November.

Why Does It Matter in Georgia?

The Georgia Dept. of Human Services has informed Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients that they will not receive their November benefits due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. SNAP recipients can use their cards through October 31st and are being urged to plan ahead and purchase items they need now.

SNAP plays a vital role in helping families put food on the table, especially for children. In Georgia, more than 950,000 children live in households that rely on SNAP each month. Without timely action to release available contingency funds, nearly $6 billion that could cover two-thirds of November benefits, families across the state could struggle to afford enough food for their families.

What to Say (Calling Works Best!)

Hi, I’m [Your Name] from [City}, Georgia. I’m calling to urge [Rep./Sen.’s Name] to authorize the use of SNAP contingency funds to ensure Georgia children and families can receive benefits in November. More than 950,000 children in Georgia rely on these benefits for daily nutrition and our food banks are already overwhelmed. This support helps families stay afloat, reduces childhood hunger, and boosts success in school. Thank you for supporting Georgia’s children and families.
