Former Georgia Attorney General and longtime Cobb leader Sam Olens has been awarded the Daniel J. Curtin Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Bar Association’s Jefferson Fordham Society. The honor was presented during the organization’s 28th annual luncheon in Toronto, Ontario.
The State Bar of Georgia praised the recognition as “well-deserved,” pointing to Olens’ decades of commitment to public service, local government, and the legal profession.
Olens’ roots run deep in Cobb County. He served on the Cobb County Board of Commissioners beginning in 1999 before becoming chair of Cobb County Government from 2002 to 2010. Later, as Georgia’s attorney general, he championed reforms to strengthen transparency laws, fought against sex trafficking, and promoted good government. Today, he continues to serve Cobb through his role as director of the Cobb Community Foundation while also working as a partner with Dentons law firm.
The award marks a national recognition of Olens’ legacy, but here in Cobb, it is also a proud reminder of the impact a local leader can have on both our community and the state of Georgia.
