Authorities were in an apartment complex on a different matter – serving a temporary order of protection – when they remembered that a wanted sex offender, Dameon Alexander, was thought to be living at the complex.
They used the opportunity to check if Dameon Alexander, a wanted offender, was living there as previously believed. Alexander was wanted for failing to register as a sex offender in Cobb County, per authorities. He was also wanted by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office as well as Cobb County Probation.
Upon searching an apartment in the complex for the wanted registered sex offender, Cobb County deputies said they noticed something in a bedroom that looked strange and discovered the wanted registered sex offender hiding under the bed.
The arrest was in conjunction with the Sex Offender (SOU) and Domestic Violence (DV) units who said they were already at the complex serving a temporary protective order.
Prior to entering the apartment, DV deputies said they called SOU to confirm that a car parked in the complex belonged to Alexander. In addition, a Deputy confirmed that he could see the offender laying on the bed from a back window of the apartment.
Upon confirmation, they said they knocked on the apartment door and heard the inside go silent. Authorities made entry into the apartment where they found a woman and a child hiding in the bathroom. Two deputies entered the master bedroom and noticed a “suspicious” lump in the bed. One of the deputies lifted the mattress to find the suspect hiding.
Alexander was taken into custody and is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
