Roger Bruce Returns to Public Service, Offers Experience and Steady Leadership in Georgia Senate Race

ATLANTA, Ga. — Veteran legislator Roger Bruce is running for Georgia State Senate District 35, emphasizing experience, results-driven leadership, and a commitment to serving communities. After more than two decades in the Georgia House of Representatives, Bruce is ready to bring steady, proven leadership to the Senate. Bruce has built a record championing public education, voting rights, community development, and programs for children and the elderly. He emphasizes that his work is rooted in substance, coalition-building, and practical results for Georgians.
In the six‑person special election held November 18, Bruce finished second — behind pediatric dentist and former Cobb County School Board member Jaha Howard — but neither secured a majority. As a result, the race will now be decided in a runoff on December 16, 2025.
Support from Former Rivals
Bruce has already drawn endorsements from at least one former Democratic candidate: Erica‑Denise Solomon — who placed fourth in the special election — publicly announced she is backing Bruce for the runoff. That support underscores a growing consolidation around Bruce within the Democratic field, signaling to voters and donors that some opponents now view him as the strongest representative for the district.

During a recent meet and greet, Bruce addressed his candidacy in comparison to his opponent, saying, “If you need a dentist, call Jaha. But if you want someone who will actually work at the Capitol and deliver results for the people, I’m the candidate to support.” The remark from Burce underscores his focus on hands-on, legislative experience and commitment to getting things done in state government. Bruce’s path to victory in the runoff will rely on several key strategies:

- He’ll continue to emphasize his longstanding record, legislative experience, and issues that cut across partisan lines, including education, public health, and community development.
- He’ll work to persuade moderate and independent voters who might consider the Republican candidate. So far, there’s no public sign of Republican co-endorsement, meaning Bruce’s campaign will focus on broadening appeal beyond the Democratic base.
- By highlighting his proven ability to deliver results in the Capitol, Bruce aims to position himself as the candidate with both experience and credibility to tackle Georgia’s most pressing issues.
Supporters point to his long history of service, accessibility, and advocacy as evidence that he is prepared to step in and make an immediate impact. Bruce positions himself as a steady, experienced leader at a time when voters are seeking principled, results-oriented representation.
As the December 16 election approaches, Bruce is focused on making the case that experience, proven legislative effectiveness, and a unifying vision matter more than empty rhetoric — and that he is best positioned to serve the district effectively.
Early Voting starts Monday, December 8.
