Cobb County, GA – Members of the Cobb County Alphas stood proudly as the Omicron Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was honored as Alumni Chapter of the Year at the Alpha Georgia District Association Convention held in Augusta last weekend.

The distinction recognizes the chapter’s exceptional leadership, innovative programming, and deep commitment to service in Cobb County. Competing among 25 alumni chapters across Georgia, the Cobb County Alphas set themselves apart with a comprehensive portfolio that documented their accomplishments and demonstrated the chapter’s alignment with the fraternity’s core principles: leadership, academic excellence, brotherhood, and service to the community.

“This award symbolizes the passion and dedication of every member of our chapter,” said Harold G. Dickerson, Chapter President. “We have worked hard—and will continue to work hard—to fulfill the fraternity’s mission and create meaningful impact in Cobb County. We are humbled and honored to be recognized by our peers.”

A cornerstone of the chapter’s work is the Youth to Men mentoring initiative, operated through OML’s Henry Arthur Callis Education Foundation. The program serves 70 high school males from Cobb County, who meet bi-monthly to build life management skills, perform community service, and interact with mentors who help guide their academic and personal development.

“Youth to Men has been a platform designed to propel young men toward greatness,” said Steven Boyd, Board Chairman of the Callis Foundation. “Through this program, we ensure our students are equipped with the academic, social, and leadership tools they need for life-long success.”

The Chapter of the Year award was presented during the Georgia District Association’s 85th Anniversary Annual Conference, held November 13–15 in Augusta. The annual gathering brought together fraternity leaders, members, and partners to celebrate excellence, share best practices, and advance the mission of Alpha Phi Alpha across the state.
