This is what Failed Leadership looks like

Share

To say that that someone has misled you means that they have made you believe something that is not true, either by telling you a lie or by giving you a wrong idea or impression. To mislead a person is possible, but to mislead a whole community takes effort, but this deception continues to happen each day in the South Cobb community, and they do not want us talking about it.

The district 4 commissioner, along with the chair of Cobb County must be given high marks for their vaudeville act during the election cycle. Remember the election promises that have since faded away. Cupid promised that if she were elected positive changes would happen for South Cobb. The only change we saw was her quick move from our community to a Vining’s address, even after promising voters she would not abandon South Cobb if they voted for her. Do not forget that Cupid also promised that if you helped her get her preferred candidate – with zero community experience – elected to take her place she would have the partnership she needed to bring home deliverables to our community. After a year, we have seen nothing from either one of them. So much for their partnership of broken promises.

What we have seen is this…As out police precinct falls apart and officers are forced to work in a subpar building, we see a new one approved for a commissioner in a different district. What gives? We like new things in South Cobb.

As we see them cut ribbons for new buildings and new businesses in other parts of Cobb, their claim to fame in our community is Cupid and company holding a ribbon cutting last year to open the civil war park that she, a civil war preservationist group, and a Mableton group championed. This occurred despite public outcry from our community against anything that would honor the civil war.

We see two shuttered fire houses in our community that could be put to some usage, but that cannot happen because it would require leadership on their part and that is something that they simply do not have. When called out for their growing transgressions against our community and their lack of leadership to move us forward, they immediately surround themselves with anyone who will tell them they are doing a wonderful job instead of telling them the truth. You are failing us miserably.

So is the story of South Cobb and its RINO’s. The representation in name only that Cupid provided to our community for 8 years as commissioner for D4 continues under her protégé, but we are supposed to be polite and not point it out. We continue to get nothing and will continue to get nothing from them because they do not care about our community. Look around South Cobb. Facilities that we need are nonexistent. Buildings are empty and properties in our community are dilapidated. Our community center, the Lions Club, is a run down aluminum fire trap and should have been gutted years ago. We are forced to contend with what we have while others get new community centers for their children and families to enjoy. They opened a state-of-the-art library that would rival any college and we received approval to make patches to what is supposed to be our regional library. The persons elected to address these issues are walking around like peacocks admiring their own feathers while our community suffers.

My recent report cards on their failings have hits nerves. Instead of springing into action to do something about the issues that are looming, their answer is to round up the usual suspects and hold a town hall meeting so they can pat themselves on the back for producing nothing over the past nine years, 8 years under Cupid and 1 year under the current RINO.

As they plan the latest dog and pony show, there are several questions to be asked. The first one is who is our district commissioner really? We know what we have been told by her and Cupid, but have we been misled? As she plans her community meeting, SPOTLIGHT is posing the first question, who are you really? We deserve to know…

Our South Cobb community deserves better and we will continue to beat this drum. We will not get better until we demand it. Stay ‘woke’ and keep sending us your tips. We welcome them!!!
