South Cobb Community Meeting on Magnolia Crossing

Members of the South Cobb community are invited to attend an important Community Meeting on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at the EPICenter on Riverside Drive Parkway Austell.

After 7 years of benign neglect, a presentation will be made on the mixed-use development plan for the 50 acres of land on Riverside Drive. Your presence and participation is critically important. For those of us that remember businesswoman and community leader Wanda Cunningham, who lost her battle a few weeks ago to cancer, we know that she presented to the South Cobb Redevelopment Authority (SCRD) a community vetted plan. Everyone who saw it was quite comfortable with it, but it was blocked by the actions of SCRA for unknown reasons. If we do not fill seats to capacity for this meeting, we are doing our community a disservice and we will be letting Wanda down on a project that was near and dear to her vision for our community and make hollow the plans and the real presentation given to SCRA while she was alive.

This has been a long ordeal for our community and we are wondering why it is only coming forth now – after Wanda’s passing and years of pleading with former Commissioner and now Chair Lisa Cupid and others for leadership on this issue – which they failed to provide.
