Share

If you want to  actively engage in the political process and cast your vote in the open primaries in Georgia, you need to register to vote by Monday, February 12, which is the final day for voter registration.

In the past, the voter registration deadline has seen significant participation from new residents and those recently turning 18.

All voters registered by that day have the opportunity to participate in either party’s primary on March 12, featuring 14 candidates, including President Joe Biden in the Democratic race and Donald Trump in the Republican contest. Early voting is set to commence on February 19.

For convenience, voters can verify their registration status and preview sample ballots through the state’s My Voter Page at mvp.sos.ga.gov. Eligible Georgians can complete their registration online, and registration forms are accessible at libraries, post offices, and county election offices.

To meet the eligibility criteria for voter registration in Georgia, individuals must be citizens, legal residents, and over 17 1/2 years old. They cannot be serving a sentence for a felony conviction or found mentally incompetent by a judge. The minimum voting age is 18.

Additionally, all voters are required to present ID before casting a ballot in Georgia.
