The former chairman of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, Mike Boyce, has died at the age of 72. Michael Murphy, who served as Boyce’s Special Assistant during his time as Chairman confirmed his death to SPOTLIGHT.
Boyce and his wife, Judy, were in Indiana as fellows in the Inspired Leadership Initiative at Boyce’s alma mater, the University of Notre Dame. Boyce was hospitalized in Indiana last week after suffering two strokes. He underwent surgery during the week to reduce brain swelling but never recovered.
Murphy recalled him and his wife Vanessa having dinner with the Boyce’s during a recent visit back to Cobb County. He commented that Boyce loved Cobb County and did what he could for the community. We concur.
Many who loved and respected Boyce were praying for his full recovery. Our hearts are broken by this sad news. Rest in Peace Mike.
