Marietta man found guilty of raping six-year-old

Share

The Cobb District Attorney’s Office announced that a Cobb jury found a 27-year-old Marietta man guilty on all counts, including rape and two counts of aggravated child molestation.

According to arrest records, between May 31, 2020, to June 3, 2020, Jamal Adams raped a six-year-old child at his Marietta home, according to his arrest warrant.

The abuse came to light after Police were notified by Cobb Hospital where the mother and grandmother brought the child. During a forensic interview with Cobb SUV, the child was reluctant to say what occurred because she “did not want to tell on Adams”, according to the warrant.  Injury to the child’s genitalia were found after she was examined by a sexual assault nurse.

It’s unclear if Adams is related to the child.

According to the D.A.’s office, Adams will be sentenced on May 19.

The D.A.’s office confirmed that Adams was also arrested in 2018 and charged with simple battery and third-degree cruelty to children in an unrelated case.
