Man breaks into Austell home, chokes resident

A woman in Austell was assaulted during an attempted robbery after a man broke into her home and attacked her.
According to an arrest warrant, Anthony Byron Davenport, 27, entered the victim’s residence on Whisper Lane in Austell to attempt a burglary around 1 p.m. on June 23.
Davenport was interrupted by the resident, who demanded he leaves. Instead, Davenport allegedly attacked her, grabbing the victim’s throat with such force that it temporarily cut off her airway and left redness and discoloration around her throat.
Davenport was charged with first-degree burglary and aggravated assault in the form of strangulation, which is both felonies. He is being held at the Cobb County jail without bond.
