Kareemah Hanifa, a recent graduate of Life University, has been selected as a 2023 Justice Policy Fellow with the Education Trust. Hanifa is one of eight who were selected through a highly competitive application process for this honor from the Education Trust.
The organization is focused on dismantling barriers in the educational system created by racial and economic injustice. The award is presented to individuals impacted by the criminal legal system that have led and excelled in the realms of advocacy and education.
Over the next year, the eight Fellows will engage in meeting with policy and advocacy experts from across the country to grow and take their next steps as leaders, advocates and change-makers.
Hanifa has spent her time at Life showing others what it means to realize one’s inner potential. In addition, she has spearheaded a campaign to restore voting rights for people on parole and probation through IMAN Atlanta as their lead Community Organizer. She also worked on the Chillon Project as a Reentry and Advocacy Leader.
