Brandon Glover has been sentenced to spend the remainder of his life behind bars for the tragic shooting death of another man during an armed robbery attempt in Cobb County in 2021. Cobb District Attorney Flynn Broady announced that Glover, 25, was found guilty on Friday of multiple charges, including five counts of murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during a felony. Glover’s sentence includes life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, along with an additional 45 years.
The incident occurred on September 30, 2021, when authorities responded to a vehicle crash on Blackhawk Trail off U.S. 78. Inside the vehicle, they discovered Statum, 31, with a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen. Despite efforts, Statum succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The driver of the vehicle informed police that he and Statum had been targeted by two individuals attempting to rob them. According to the driver’s account, Glover exited a vehicle and fired a shot into their vehicle, fatally striking Statum. Through the driver’s description and information provided, authorities were able to identify Glover as the shooter.
Statum, a father to a 5-year-old daughter and expecting a second child at the time of his death, leaves behind a grieving family and community.
D. A. Broady expressed his hope that the verdict would offer some semblance of closure to Statum family and friends.
