Homeless man shoots Austell man at night

A homeless man has been charged with two felonies, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime after he shot an Austell man early last Sunday.

According to the Cobb County Police Department, Fredderick Benjamin Ottison, a 50-year-old homeless man, approached the victim in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 500 block of Riverside Parkway, around 12:30 a.m. on June 12. Ottison yelled at the other man and then shot him in the arm with a .22 caliber pistol, the warrant says.

Ottison fled the scene but was later detained by officers. He was initially booked into the county jail but transferred to another, unnamed jurisdiction on Monday.

It is unknown at this time what led to the shooting.
