A ‘Go Fund Me’ account has been established for Ryan Ellis, a Kennesaw hit-and-run victim, who recently succumbed to his injuries. According to police, Ellis, 57, was riding his bike on Cobb Parkway June 22 when he was struck by a car. Described as a gray Toyota Tundra, Police said that after rear-ending Ellis, the suspect drove off and left Ellis in the roadway for an unspecified amount of time. Ellis was taken to Kennestone Hospital suffering from brain injuries and multiple fractures to his ribs, hip, and right leg. Ellis did not survive.
Ellis’s daughter, Erica Richardson said in a Facebook post, “Unfortunately, yesterday July 3rd, our daddy got his angel wings. We appreciate all of the love, support, thoughts, and prayers from so many people.”
As they prepare for his funeral, Ellis’ family has asked for help from the public and has launched a GoFundMe to help assist with his memorial services. The GoFundMe page is titled “Justice for Ryan: Hit-and Run Bicycle Accident Fundraiser”. They have raised over $2,300 of the $5,000 goal.
Police say they have identified the vehicle involved in the crash but are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987.
