In yet another act of senseless gun violence, Austell resident Brian Sclafford-Clemons died after his car was hit multiple times by gunfire as he and his young daughter traveled to a nearby gas station. Sclafford-Clemons’ car crashed into RaceTrac, located in the 4000 block of Austell Road, leaving his young daughter injured from the crash, but alive.
The victim’s wife, Taryn Clemons, is devastated as she tries to console her young daughter who is in shock and remans traumatized after seeing her father shot. Taryn described her husband Brian, a truck driver, as a good-spirited, kind man who everyone loved. She said he was hard working and loved his family. Brian leaves behind a wife and three young children.
Taryn told authorities that her family had just had lunch and her husband and daughter headed to RaceTrac, located three minutes from home, to get sodas for the family. As Cobb police continue to investigate, Taryn and authorities are asking anyone who has information to contact police.
The victim’s family is seeking help to assist them with retuning his body to New Jersey so that he can be laid to rest there. The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help with expenses.
