East Point man arrested for breaking into cars outside Smyrna restaurant

An East Point man was recently arrested for allegedly breaking into cars in a Smyrna shopping plaza and leading police on a chase in a stolen vehicle.
According to his warrant, 18-year-old Kindred Ronterius Pierce, is accused of breaking into multiple cars late on the night of Friday, June 30, outside Chicago Pizza and Sports Grille at 3150 Highlands Parkway in Smyrna. He allegedly broke into multiple vehicles in the parking lot, and did so while in possession of a stolen Hyundai Elantra, according to the warrant.
An undercover police officer observed Pierce exit the Hyundai and approach other vehicles in the parking lot that were later determined to have been broken into.
Pierce fled from multiple police officers in the Hyundai after being caught breaking into the other vehicles. Pierce was involved in a car crash into a police patrol car during the pursuit. After the crash, Pierce fled on foot but was captured.
Pierce was booked into the Cobb County jail and is being held without bond. He is charged with three felony counts of entering an automobile in an attempt to commit theft, two counts of felony possessing tools to commit a crime, one count of felony theft, and misdemeanors including obstruction of justice and fleeing or attempting to elude capture.
