Dr. Anthony B. Johnson Appointed Provost at Morris Brown College

Historical black college Morris Brown College has a new leader in Dr. Anthony B. Johnson, who was appointed provost and senior vice president for academic affairs this week. For years, Morris Brown has been attempting to regain its accreditation after losing it in 2002. Johnson is currently on the Board of Directors for the National Institutes for Historically Underserved Students. Professional roles included recently serving as the interim vice president for academic affair and chief academic officer at Philander Smith College; associate vice president for academic affairs and associate professor at Grambling State University, and associate dean and assistant dean at Howard University’s School of Education. Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in counseling psychology from University of Southern Mississippi, a master’s degree in elementary education from Jackson State University, and a doctorate in education with a concentration in special education, research & statistics from Jackson State University.
