Costco recalls multiple products due to listeria concerns – Customers advised to return items for refund

Costco has issued recalls for a range of frozen and refrigerated meat and poultry products, including certain BrucePac items, due to potential listeria contamination. Over the past week and a half, several products were pulled from shelves, with two recalls announced on Thursday: Readywise 110 Serving Emergency Protein Bucket and Red’s Southwestern Grill Chicken Mini Burritos. Earlier in the week, 10 lots of El Monterey Mexican Grill Chicken & Cheese Taquitos were also recalled.
Listeria can be particularly dangerous for older adults, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of listeriosis may include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions, often preceded by gastrointestinal issues such as diarrhea.
On October 11, Costco issued a recall for Rana Chicken Truffle Carbonara and Tagliatelle Grilled White Chicken & Portobello Mushroom Sauce. Readywise, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, attributed its recall to the potential contamination of chicken from one of its suppliers and urged customers to return the product for a full refund.
Red’s Southwestern Grilled Chicken Mini Burritos, item #1850156, is the only affected product from Red’s Foods, which expanded its voluntary recall out of caution. The El Monterey Chicken Taquitos recall, issued by Ruiz Foods, is part of a Class 1 recall by USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) related to a fully cooked chicken ingredient produced at BrucePac’s Durant, Oklahoma facility.
A 343-page FDA document lists hundreds of items impacted by the BrucePac recall, with products produced from May 31, 2024, to October 8, 2024, and distributed to restaurants, schools, and institutions nationwide.
Consumers are encouraged to return the item for a full refund. Customers can also refer to Costco’s product recall website for further details.
