Share

The Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange’s (GILEE) 29th annual peer-to-peer executive training program took place over a course of two weeks in Israel. Under GILEE’s program, Sheriff Owens along with a delegation of other police executives participated with the Israel Police for public safety training.

GILEE is part of the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University. The release notes that more than 1,200 public safety personnel, a majority of them from Georgia, have attended the executive training program in its 30-year history, while more than 42,000 have attended other GILEE events in Georgia and worldwide.

Owen’s statement on the trip said, “While in Israel, they were shown best practices and the latest technologies in policing and public safety, learning more about strategies to successfully lead ongoing, nonstop law enforcement services while building stronger, safer and better community policing through community relations.”
