 Cobb County School Board Appoints New Principals, New Assistant Superintendent

At its recent Thursday night meeting, the Cobb County School Board made significant personnel announcements, including the appointment of five new principals, a new assistant superintendent, the reassignment of one principal, and the retirement of another.

Effective July 1, the following appointments and reassignments will take place:

  • Mitchell Askew will transition from Assistant Principal at Pearson Middle School to Principal at East Cobb Middle School.
  • Tiffany Jones will move from Assistant Principal at Green Aces Elementary School to Principal at Milford Elementary School.
  • Elizabeth Marsili will move from Assistant Principal at Kennesaw Elementary School to Principal at Teasley Elementary School.
  • Amber Little will transition from Assistant Principal of Compton Elementary School to Principal at Smyrna Elementary School.
  • Ruth Martin will move from Assistant Principal at Garrison Mill Elementary School to Principal of Garrison Mill Elementary School.
  • Mari (LeEla) Martin, currently Principal of Campbell Middle School, will take on the role of Principal at Simpson Middle School.

Kevin Carpenter, currently serving as Principal of Cheatham Hill Elementary, is slated to become one of the district’s new assistant superintendents effective June 1. He will be stepping into the role previously held by Elizabeth Mavity, who is set to retire on July 1. Meanwhile, Christian Suttle, another assistant superintendent, will be departing the district to take on the position of deputy superintendent in Bartow County Schools.

Acknowledging his contributions to the district, Superintendent Chris Ragsdale bid farewell to Suttle, expressing appreciation for Suttle’s leadership as he wished him well in his new role.

The district will also bid farewell to Durham Middle School Principal Andrew Bristow, who will retire on July 1.
