Rihanna, one of the best-selling music artists of all time, recently earned the title of wealthiest artist with an estimated net worth of $1.7 billion.

When Robyn Fenty, aka Rihanna, first hit the music scene in 2005, no one could have imagined such a successful rise for the now 33-year-old. Her music accolades include nine Grammy Awards, 13 American Music Awards, 12 Billboard Music Awards, and six Guinness World Records

In addition to music, Rihanna has ventured into acting, appearing in movies such as Ocean’s 8 and Battleship. She is also involved in humanitarian causes, entrepreneurial ventures, and the fashion industry. It is her role in the later that has placed her on top and helped her reach the exclusive status of Billionaire.

Rihanna, launched Fenty Beauty in 2017, a cosmetics company that would make “women everywhere (feel) included.” She became its artistic director and the first black woman to head a luxury brand for LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) group. Forbes is confirming that Rihanna owns 50% of Fenty Beauty, which is a 50-50 joint venture with French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH (run by Bernard Arnault, the world’s second-richest person).

The bulk of Rihanna’s fortune (an estimated $1.4 billion) comes from the value of Fenty Beauty. Rihanna used her 101 million followers on Instagram and 102.5 million on Twitter—to build her beauty brand. Launched in 2017 with the goal of inclusivity, the brand offers products in a diverse range of colors—foundation is offered in 50 shades, including harder-to-find darker shades for women of color—and are modeled in its advertising by an equally diverse group of people.

Fenty Beauty, available online and at Sephora stores, which are also owned by LVMH, was an instant success. According to LVMH, the line was bringing in more than $550 million in annual revenues by 2018, its first calendar year. Fenty Beauty beat out other celebrity-founded brands like Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics, Kim Kardashian West’s KKW Beauty and Jessica Alba’s Honest Co.

Rihanna also has a stake in her lingerie company, Savage x Fenty, worth an estimated $270 million. Her earnings as a chart-topping musician and actress rounds out her earning portfolio.

In 2018, Rihanna was appointed as an ambassador of education, tourism, and investment by the government of her native country, Barbados.
