Anniversary of MLK’s Death Falls on Easter Sunday
Share

Today we celebrated Easter Sunday and remembered civil rights icon the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., who was 39 years old when he was assassinated by James Earl Jones outside a Memphis motel room. A leader of the nonviolent movement in the 1960s, MLK dedicated his life to ending Southern segregation, championing equal rights, and fighting to ensure Black Americans could make their voices heard at the ballot box. His work continues as voters in Georgia push back against new election laws signed into law in 2021 to disenfranchise them from the voting process.
